Comments Submitted by Georgia Airports Association in response to Transportation Security Administration Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Large Aircraft Security Program
January 27, 2009
2009 brings many challenges. Not only are we feeling the crunch economically, but the TSA intends to add insult to injury with their NPRM on a Large Aircraft Security Program (LASP). GAA was represented at the TSA’s Public Comment hearing held on January 8, 2009, in Atlanta. There were some comments made from the industry that were damaging to our case, but there were also comments recorded that were very useful.
The GAA General Aviation Security Committee worked together to compose our comments to be placed on the Federal Register, which were submitted today. We sought to voice our concerns and asked for clarity on certain points. We ultimately have requested a withdrawal of the rules and requested that an Aviation Rulemaking Committee with industry representatives be formed.
There is strength in numbers. Please take the time to not only place your own comments on the Federal Register at www.regulations.gov referencing the Docket Number (TSA-2008-0021), but also take the time to write or call your local Congressman and Senator. If you don’t know how or where to contact them, you can go to www.legis.ga.gov for that information.
If you have questions about the specifics of the TSA’s proposal, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Thank you,
Hope Macaluso
