TSA Announces Public Meeting Schedule for Large Aircraft Security Program
December 20, 2008

Dear GAA Member,

On behalf of the General Aviation Security Committee for the Georgia Airports Association, I would like to ask you all to take time to familiarize yourself with the TSA’s Large Aircraft Security Program.  While it initially affects only airport operators that are designated as reliever airports, there is a concern that these policies could be rolled out to all of us.  Some of our customers and tenants would certainly be impacted.

If you are able, please attend or send a representative to the Public Meeting to be held in Atlanta on January 8, 2009.  There is an attachment with more details.  Seating is limited, but the more that show up, the better.

GAA is formulating a response to the proposed rules.  We are coordinating with the American Association of Airport Executive (AAAE).  They are in turn coordinating with other aviation associations.  We want to have a unified and harmonious response.  The comment period is open until February 27, 2009.  We will notify our members of our response and request that you wait until then to make your own response so that we are all singing the same tune.

Happy Holidays!

Hope Macaluso, A.A.E.
Executive Director, LaGrange Callaway Airport
Chairperson, GAA GA Security Committee
